Police respond to hit-and-run but find something else

A pedestrian called for police help on the afternoon of March 26, saying he had been hit by a car that sped away on Main Street and down Highway 92. When police arrived, the man hit by the car hid from the law officers and refused to say who he was. The man eventually identified himself, giving a rambling statement about the accident. The police reported the man was clearly intoxicated but had no apparent injuries. He refused medical aid.

Police were called when a woman reportedly caused her husband to repeatedly hit his head on a car door during a lengthy dispute.

4:12 p.m., March 25, Main Street

A 31-year-old on probation was caught with marijuana. The man was released on the promise to appear in court.

9:01 p.m., March 25, Colonel Way

Police say they investigated when they saw several suspicious young men in a vehicle. One of the men was found with marijuana.

9:50 p.m., March 26, Highway 92

A 69-year-old woman from San Carlos was arrested for drunken driving.

Nov. 13, 2005, Kelly Avenue

A woman learned at the Department of Motor Vehicles that she had an unpaid traffic ticket from 2005 from an incident in Half Moon Bay. The woman said the ticket couldn’t be hers; she had never been to Half Moon Bay. Police determined this was a case of mistaken identity.

12:30 p.m., March 18, Portola State Park

A man was injured in an accident down a remote service road at Portola Redwoods State Park. The injured man was found lying on his back beside a large tractor and he complained about intense pain coming from his left arm and ankle. The man’s left arm was extremely bloody and had a bone protruding from the skin. A rescue helicopter was called to take the man to Stanford Hospital. It is not clear how the man was originally injured.

11:30 a.m., March 19, Highway 1

Someone smashed a front window to break into a parked car, stealing numerous items inside. Sheriff’s deputies could not locate the burglar.

March 21, Highway 1

A car parked at the McNee Ranch Trailhead was broken into by a stranger. The burglar smashed the front side window and stole several personal items from inside.

March 19, Ivy Street

A canine, aptly named “Dog,” got into a neighbor’s chicken coop, and started chasing the bird around the backyard. The neighbor yelled at Dog as he carried a chicken in his mouth. No chickens were injured, but many flew the coop to run away from the dog.

March 22, Barranca Lane

A drunken guest at a woman’s home reportedly started verbally abusing the homeowner over the course of 45 minutes. The complainant called Sheriff’s deputies as she began to fear for her safety. When officers arrived, the homeowner put her guest under citizen’s arrest.
