Five days before the window for the Mavericks Surf Contest officially closes, contest director Jeff Clark sounds bummed. “We’re kinda running out of time, basically,” Clark said Thursday morning.
“The window is winding down, and it feels like it’s summer already," he said. "We were hoping for a final swell here, but it doesn’t look like it’s gonna come.”
Clark added that “there’s always hope,” but the weather hasn’t cooperated thus far, and big waves aren’t in the forecast.
On his cell phone Thursday morning, Clark said he was loading up his truck for a trip out of town on this, the final weekend before the close of the contest window.
