with illness. His Air Force service in Germany earned him an appreciation for a larger world

than his origins in Modesto, California. An artist in beautiful stained glass windows for Our Lady of the Pillar church, his

artisan talent is shown in countless leaded glass windows throughout the Bay

Area. The helicopter training from his military service led to a career in aircraft

maintenance for Western Airlines, careful restoration of WWII warbirds and like-

new vintage automobiles. How many were touched by Travis' great humor, friendship and generosity will

never be known, but all will remember his joyous handshake and brilliant smile. Memorial service and mass at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic church, March 28 at

Montara surfer rides wave to Mexico

Recognized as a charging up-and-comer by his big wave colleagues, Montara surfer Tim West is gearing up for his debut splash at the Mavericks Surf Contest this month. It’s his first year as one of the 24 hailed invitees to the world-class contest — he served as an alternate at the 2008 and 2006 contests — and the 28-year-old Coastsider is simply “stoked.”
