Getting into the holiday giving spirit, members of the San Mateo County Association of Realtors held their fifth annual charity auction Dec. 9 in Half Moon Bay.

The auction took place at the Harbor House, and during its two hours, Realtors and affiliates raised $7,500 that was slated to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of the Coastside and Coastside Hope.

These charities were favorites of the late Nancy Kinghorn and the late Carol Icard, both of whom died this year due to cancer.

Kinghorn founded the event in 2003, along with fellow local Realtor Rose Serdy of Alain Pinel Realtors.

Every year, the event is attended by local Realtors, and it benefits local charities. This year, San Mateo County Association of Realtors members from Pacifica attended to support the event, and Kinghorn’s son Randy and Icard’s daughter Arwin also attended.

The funds were raised from auction items donated from local merchants and the local real estate community.

“The most incredible thing is that, in this economy, everyone dug deep,” said Realtor Kathy Rain of Coldwell Banker. “I am so proud of what the real estate community does to help the coast.”
