| Joyce Hacker Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 2:40 PM PST August 1, 1943-November 26, 2008 Joyce Hacker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2008. Joyce was born on August 1, 1943, in Hilo, Hawaii. She moved to the mainland, where she eventually met and married Douglas and moved to the Coastside in 1973. There they lived and raised their children until 1992. They moved to San Mateo for several years, and then retired to Dayton, NV in 2004. Joyce was a great lover of arts and crafts, music, reading, and capturing her love of nature through photographs during their many motorcycle rides throughout the western states. She was known for her great sense of humor and spunk, as well as her generosity and compassion. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Douglas Hacker; daughter and son-in-law, April and Frank Gunderson; sons, Kevin and Nathan Hacker; granddaughters Alyssa and Tiffany Gunderson; brothers, Byron and Karl Yogi; and sister, Genette Yogi-Kornfield. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS, 304 Driftwood Way, Dayton, NV. In lieu of flowers, donations to local food banks or charities are welcomed, as Joyce would have wished. |
