Vandals damage school construction project

Trespassers accessed Cunha Intermediate School over the Thanksgiving weekend, sneaking onto the second story of the school construction project. The intruders threw various items from the roof of the school, including a large barrel of epoxy, which splattered onto the new walls of the buildings and may have permanently damaged the concrete below. The vandals also threw construction paper around the site and overturned three portable toilets.

10:27 a.m., Nov. 23, Quarry Park

A picnic table at Quarry Park was thrown off an overlook, down to the base of the lookout point. The damaged table was estimated to be worth about $700.

1:02 a.m., Nov 30, Highway 1

A routine traffic stop revealed an 18-year-old driving with a suspended license. The man had been designated a negligent driver by the Department of Motor Vehicles due to past infractions. Officers searching the car discovered four beer bottles in the trunk. Two juvenile passengers were released.

3:03 p.m., Dec. 1, Pine Avenue

A drunken 44-year-old man started yelling at people. Police approached the man and determined that he was too intoxicated to take care of himself.

1:15 p.m., Nov. 28, Third Avenue

A belligerent ex-boyfriend arrived at a woman’s home, threatened her and began pushing her. The victim suffered no visible injuries. She was issued a protective order in an effort to prevent future problems.

Disturbance

10:25 p.m., Nov. 25, Kelly Avenue

Two roommates had a verbal dispute, spawning a call to police. One of the roommates settled the issue by agreeing to move out.

11 a.m., Nov. 26, Main Street

A person with a history of causing problems downtown entered a store and started arguing with employees. Officers told the employees how to file a restraining order.

9:41 a.m., Nov. 26, Main Street

Two teenagers were caught smoking marijuana in a car. A 19-year-old man was charged with drug possession, while his 16-year-old acquaintance was charged with truancy and being under the influence of a drug. He was brought to Half Moon Bay High School and released to school administrators.

Missing person

12:44 p.m., Nov. 30

A woman in Texas contacted Half Moon Bay Police, worried that her adult niece was missing. The niece was supposed to have flown from Nevada to Texas but never arrived at the airport. The missing woman’s boyfriend once lived in Half Moon Bay. The niece was entered into the Missing Persons System.

Robbery

7:15 p.m., Nov. 28, Highway 1

A drunken transient approached a woman at a gas station and offered to help put air in her tires. After the woman declined his help, the man pulled out a knife and asked her for money. The man, 45-year-old Albino Reyna, reportedly left after the woman gave him some cash. Police located the man a short distance away and arrested him on charges of robbery and exhibiting a deadly weapon.

12:01 a.m., Nov. 29, Kelly Avenue

Somebody broke a rear passenger window on a car, but nothing of value appeared to be stolen.

12:19 p.m., Nov 26, Montara State Beach

Somebody reached through an open window to unlock a truck door and stole $150 in cash and four credit cards from a wallet. The cards were reportedly used at various stores in San Francisco.

6:58 p.m., Nov. 24, Derecho Lane

A suspicious man was sitting in a car outside of a Laundromat, sipping an alcoholic beverage. Sheriff’s deputies confronted the man and noticed an open can of beer at his feet. A search of the car revealed a plastic bag of marijuana and a pipe.

Burglary

11 a.m., Nov. 25, Highway 1

A car was burglarized after its owner left the car to walk down the beach. A cell phone and some credit cards were taken from the vehicle.
