The National Weather Service has issued a Small Craft Advisory for the Central and Northern California Coasts, including the San Francisco Bay from 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. Friday.  In addition, a Hazardous Seas Advisory has been issued for coastal waters north of Pigeon Point from today through Saturday.

A small craft advisory means that high winds are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.  Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels should exercise extreme caution when navigating in these conditions. The Coast Guard strongly recommends boaters avoid taking to the water over the next several days, and avoid beaches as hazardous sea conditions may exist.
