The LPGA Samsung World Championship will not be returning to the Ocean Course at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links next year.

The woman’s pro golf tour released its 2009 schedule Wednesday, listing the tournament site as undetermined. However, Half Moon Bay City Council member Marina Fraser said the tournament is definitely not coming back.

This year, the October tournament was held a week before the Longs Drugs Challenge at the Blackhawk Country Club in Danville. That tournament has “territorial rights” on LPGA events held in the Bay Area. Longs tournament officials gave permission for the Samsung to be held in Half Moon Bay for one year only.

Paula Creamer, pictured here in the final round of the 2008 Samsung World Chamnpionship, will not be defending her title at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links next year.

“The players loved the course,” Fraser said. “We did everything that we needed to do. We were very fortunate to host the tournament this year.”

The Golf Links was the14th course to host the tournament in its 28-year history.
