Aiden Shimeld scored twice for the Silver Bullets and got the assist in Brendan Garrison’s goal. Sam Mitchell, Ian Tighe and Ethen O’Brien all scored for the Blue Thunder. HMB looking for soccer coach Half Moon Bay High School is looking for a coach for the girls’ frosh-soph soccer team. Half Moon Bay’s first Peninsula Athletic League Ocean Division game is Dec. 9 at Westmoor. Cunha second in basketball tourney The Cunha Intermediate School eighth-grade girls’ basketball team finished second at the Les Clifton Memorial Basketball Tournament, held Oct. 24-26 in Lake Tahoe. The Cubs lost to Magnolia Middle School, 40-32, in the title game. McKenna Hilton scored 17 points for Cunha. Chandra Anderson, Lyndsay Klimenko, Katie Carlevaris, Rachel Staal and Bridget True each scored three points. Cunha won its opening round game, 36-29 over Ione Middle School. Hilton scored 15 points. That was followed by a 34-31 win over Carson Valley Middle School. Carlevaris tallied 14 points. Cunha rallied from an 8-point deficit with four minutes left in the game to defeat Martinez Middle School, 37-33. Hilton scored 17 points, with Carlevaris and Eleanor Brown each scoring six. Boys’ water polo team wins The Half Moon Bay High School boys’ water polo team concluded its season with a 14-1 win over Lincoln of San Jose in a pool game of the Monta Vista Tournament, Nov. 1. Lucas Flosi scored six goals for Half Moon Bay. The Cougars went 2-1 in the tournament, falling to Harbor, 12-9, but beating Independence, 11-6. Fulp-Allen earns cross country award Katherine Fulp-Allen was named the California Pacific Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Month for October, after earning three top-10 finishes at meets last month. Fulp-Allen, a 2006 graduate of Half Moon Bay High School and junior at Menlo College, was second at the Pacific Union College Invitational, sixth at the California Pacific Conference Meet and third at the Holy Names Invitational. Fundraiser for cheerleaders tonight Members of the Coastside Pop Warner Midget Cheerleading team will be holding a fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. today at the Princeton Seafood Company. The cheerleaders will either be hostesses, servers or bus girls. Money raised goes to pay for the team’s participation in the National Pop Warner Cheerleading Championships in Florida next month. The restaurant will donate 10 percent of sales and all tips to the team. |
