Challenger Cecily Harris was elected to the Midpeninsula Open Space District board Tuesday, unseating incumbent Kenneth C. Nitz. Harris earned 59.5 percent of the vote from constituents in Half Moon Bay, the Midcoast and Redwood City.

“I’m thrilled and look forward to working with the board of directors to serve the community and users of the open space preserves,” she said in a statement prepared by the district.

Harris, a San Carlos resident, is a financial services manager with the San Mateo County Parks Department.

The district is comprised of seven geographic wards. Board members Jed Cyr and Curt Riffle were unopposed and reseated as well.
