Moseley led the three candidates with 42 percent of the vote; Gardner tallied 36.7 percent; and challenger Ken Johnson had 21.2 percent of the vote. The top two vote-getters gain seats on the board.
Moseley had the endorsement of the Half Moon Bay Review and the League for Coastal Protection. He currently serves as the president of the board and has said that he wouldn’t favor another parcel tax to fund strapped schools unless rules requiring a two-thirds margin were changed. Gardner has been a lightning rod for those who oppose his land-use policies – he was a strong proponent of building a school at Wavecrest and the so-called bypass around the intersection of highways 1 and 92.
