| Nicholas 'Nick' Alexander Franco Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 1:16 PM PDT A 12-year resident of Half Moon Bay, Nick was born in San Carlos and lived his life on the Peninsula. For 43 years he was employed at BFI (now Allied Waste). He followed in his father’s footsteps, first as a garbage man, along with his lifelong friend, Luke Jepsen, who “taught me everything about everything,” and for the last 12 years as a supervisor for the Coastside and Pescadero. Nick passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, at home on October 16, 2008. He is pre-deceased by his mother, Louise, whom he never stopped loving. He is survived by his wonderful “Pop” Tony, loving brother James (wife Becky), niece Leah, nephew Trevor, daughter Kim (husband John), grandchildren Mackenna and Declan, his loving partner Sandi Ross and many countless friends. Nick’s infectious smile and laugh will be missed by so many from all of the “spots”— Steamy’s, Carlos Club, the Old and New HMB Inn and the San Benito House. Nick was a longtime hunter with the Pedro Mountain Club and will be missed by many there—you know who you are. To the men and women of BFI (AW) especially, you knew him for what he was—a kind, generous person, and most truly the best friend one could ever want to work with. For the friends and family that he won the hearts of, a celebration of Nick’s life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the American Legion Post 474 in Princeton at 12:00 p.m. To commemorate Nick’s service as an Army sergeant during the Vietnam War, an honor ceremony will be held. |
