Beach party crashed by violent assailants

Several people, partying and drinking alcoholic beverages at Mavericks Beach in Princeton, were provoked into fighting a group of young men who crashed their party. One of the party crashers brandished an aluminum bat, but only one victim suffered injuries — minor bruises and swelling on his left ankle.

3:13 p.m., Oct 18, Main Street

A 19-year-old with a plastic water bottle filled with an alcoholic beverage was cited for underage drinking.

5:22 p.m., Oct 19, Correas Avenue

Two young men were seen walking down the shoulder of the roadway, leaning on each other in an attempt to walk without falling. When officers encountered the two men, they determined they were too intoxicated to care for themselves and arrested them.

Disturbance

7:45 p.m., Oct 15, Highway 1

A family was given information about how to file a restraining order after getting into a verbal argument with another family. Both families reportedly have rival gang relations, and they have had past confrontations.

Oct 16, Valdez Avenue

A resident reported his neighbor’s wind chimes were disturbing the peace.

12:54 a.m., Oct 18, Highway 1

Officers at Strawflower Village observed a fight break out between a group of men. Officers detained the subjects and found one had an outstanding warrant.

Drugs

9:30 a.m., Oct 14, Kelly Avenue

A juvenile at Pilarcitos High School was arrested for being high on marijuana. The 16-year-old was arrested and released to a parent.

12:50 p.m., Oct 15, Lewis Foster Drive

A 14-year-old Half Moon Bay High School student was suspected to be under the influence of a controlled substance.

1:20 a.m., Oct 17, Highway 1

A suspicious vehicle was reported by Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, security. Officers located the vehicle leaving the area and performed a traffic stop. The 38-year-old driver was arrested for possession of narcotics paraphernalia and a probation violation.

Theft

8 a.m., Oct 15, Redondo Beach Road

Someone took a Halloween display from the front yard of a residence.

1:46 p.m., Oct 17, Kelly Avenue

A merchant had apparently been selling products stolen from another business. The merchant said he bought the items from a store employee. The victim business owner decided not to seek prosecution and instead reprimanded the employee.

5 p.m., Oct 17, Cypress Avenue

A man who was selling his car allowed a former co-worker to test drive the car. The former co-worker drove off and did not return the vehicle, and the car was reported as stolen. Two days later the man returned and paid for the car.

7 p.m., Oct 18, Main Street

A 19-year-old Half Moon Bay resident was arrested for sneaking into closed vendor booths at the Pumpkin Festival. Witnesses said the suspect crawled out from about three booths. After detaining the young man, officers found several stolen items.

Trespassing

11:20 p.m., Oct 13, Myrtle Street

A resident discovered someone had opened the trunk of his vehicle and that a bicycle was missing from his side yard.

7:41 p.m., Oct 14, Main Street

A suspicious man was frequently returning to local businesses. The man was given a trespass warning by officers who learned the man was visiting the business in order to contact a woman working there.

Vandalism

Oct 15, Coastal Trail

Large portions of the fence along the Coastal Trail were reported missing. The city Public Works Department was contacted to replace the fence.

Montara

Burglary

2:15 a.m., Oct 10, McNee Ranch State Park

Someone broke the front passenger window of a vehicle, stealing a backpack containing glasses and a digital recorder. The total loss was estimated to be $700.

12:30 p.m., Oct 11, Montara State Beach

Somebody smashed a Ford Focus’s passenger window and stole a purse.

Unincorporated San Mateo County

DUI

11:02 p.m., Oct 12, Highway 1

A 31-year-old driver was arrested for driving under the influence after nearly hitting a Sheriff’s deputy patrol car head-on.
