Two prior searches were conducted for the missing man, 46-year-old David Tiran of Half Moon Bay, after his truck was discovered near the intersection of Lobitos Creek and Tunitas Creek Road on the night of Oct. 8, according to the press release.
San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office deputies searched the area around the vehicle for Tiran on Oct. 8 and were unable to find him, according to the press release. That prompted a full-scale search Thursday morning. That search, conducted by San Mateo County Search & Rescue Team and Sheriff’s Office deputies, lasted throughout the day but was unsuccessful, according to the press release.

“My understanding is that he was found way back there in the canyon behind Tunitas Creek,” said Capt. Michael O’Malley of the Half Moon Bay Police Department.
“It’s amazing that they found him,” said Lt. Ray Lunny of the Sheriff’s Office.
On Monday, Lunny said that the Sheriff’s Office was sketchy on the details of the circumstances surrounding Tiran’s disappearance and are “following up on everything.”
