Nancy Tackett Maule passed away from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease on September 16, 2008. Born in Chicago on October 19,1923, she attended Monticello College at Alton, Illinois, and in 1944 she received her A.A. degree from Escuela de Pintura y Escultura in Mexico, D.F., where she studied under Frida Kahlo, well-known Mexican painter. Nancy was a talented artist who redirected her great interest in art to raise her children. In 1951 she married Calvin Maule and they had two daughters, Lisa, Marie, and a son Andrew. They moved to Montara in 1961 where she became a dedicated environmentalist opposing Caltrans efforts to build a freeway across Montara Mountain, see

She is survived by her husband, three grown children, their spouses, four grandchildren and several cousins. Nancy was cremated. A memorial gathering is planned at the Half Moon Bay Brewery in Princeton Harbor for October 12 from 2-5 p.m. Call 650-747-0832 for more information.
