| Two hikers shot at by property owner Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 11:53 AM PDT A couple of hikers wandering in the area of Longridge Road near La Honda were hit by shotgun pellets fired by an irate property owner on the early evening of Sept 10. The property owner yelled from the deck of his house at the two hikers for not heeding a “no trespassing” sign, and then fired at them as they were leaving the area. Both hikers sustained minor injuries and immediately fled after the shots were fired. Sheriff’s deputies later contacted and arrested the suspected shooter on felony assault charges. El Granada Drugs 10:58 p.m., Sept. 18, Sonora Avenue A routine traffic stop uncovered a plastic bag of cocaine. The driver, 20-year-old Robert Cuellar of San Francisco, was arrested and taken to county jail. While in a search cell, officers discovered three more plastic bags of cocaine in Cuellar’s left shoe. In his right shoe, officers found a bag of marijuana. Half Moon Bay Assault 5:24 p.m., Sept 17, Magnolia Street A 47-year-old La Honda man was arrested after assaulting a family. Christopher Klingele was arrested on two charges of assault along with misdemeanor charges for battery, burglary and making threats. An Emergency Protective Order was given to the family. Battery 7:49 p.m., Sept 21, Miramontes Point Road A woman reported that her husband struck her. The 53-year-old man was determined to be the primary aggressor and was arrested. Burglary 10:26 p.m., Sept 19, Third Avenue Two laptops were stolen from an unlocked residence when the family was away. 2 p.m., Sept 21, Valdez Avenue A homeowner found two laptops missing from her kitchen. The evening before, the resident said she had left the window open. Computer fraud 10:42 p.m., Sept 21, Myrtle Street A resident reported a possible case of computer hacking, believing someone had gained access to his e-mail. Dispute Sept 16, Kelly Avenue A civil dispute erupted between two neighbors over the removal of part of a fence. Disorderly conduct 6:15 p.m., Sept 19, Lewis Foster Drive Five juveniles were interviewed and determined to be drunk. The teenagers’ parents were contacted. Fire 8:45 p.m., Sept 20, Valdez Avenue Officers assisted fire squads in extinguishing a grass fire, which is suspected to have been caused by fireworks. Hit and run 11:15 a.m., Sept 18, Highway 1 A Half Moon Bay resident found a note on his car, which said that a white Lincoln knocked a garbage can onto his car. The driver of the Lincoln was located, and said she didn’t know another vehicle had been damaged. 10:49 p.m., Sept 20, Potter Avenue A driver backed his car into the vehicle parked behind his and drove off, leaving no contact information. ID theft July 10, Marie Court A Half Moon Bay resident reported discovering his personal information was used to send money from his bank account to Nigeria. The man was reimbursed $1,557 from his bank. 3:22 p.m., Sept 18, St. Joseph Avenue Somebody used a Half Moon Bay resident’s credit account to purchase items from the Internet. 2:25 p.m., Sept 20, Filbert Street A resident reported having unauthorized purchases on his bank statement. Stolen vehicle 11:53 p.m., Sept 20, Purissima Street Police located an unoccupied vehicle that had been reported stolen from Newark. Theft 10 a.m., Sept 19, Lewis Foster Drive Two teenagers admitted to stealing two cell phones and an iPod. Vicious dog 1:50 p.m. Sept 18, Bloom Lane A mailman was attacked by an angry dog. The postal employee was able to fight off the dog with his mail bag, but he said this was the third time the dog attempted to attack him. La Honda ID Theft 11:24 a.m., Sept 11, Redwood Terrace A man reported discovering that an unknown person had been added to his bank account. Apparently, the man’s Social Security number had been stolen and used to modify his bank account. Montara DUI 9 p.m., Sept 12, Farallone Avenue A resident reported hearing someone revving a car loudly in her front yard. The driver of the vehicle was reportedly swearing loudly. Deputies later located the driver and found she was drunk. Unincorporated San Mateo County Burglary 11:55 a.m., Sept 16, Highway 1 A thief smashed open the driver’s side window on a locked car. The burglar took a woman’s purse containing credit cards and two Canadian passports, worth approximately $700. DUI 6:20 a.m., Sept 14, Highway 1 A driver was found unconscious, slumped over the center console in a car parked on the shoulder of the road. The car was running and stopped against the highway guardrail. Deputies woke the driver and found that he was slurring his words and couldn’t focus on the conversation. It was later determined he was on prescription drugs. |
