Guinivire M. Jones

After a long battle with several cancers, Guinivire died peacefully Thursday evening, August 27 at the Cedar Lane Care Home in Montara at the age of 44. She was visited by many friends and family before her death.

Guinivire graduated cum laude from the University of South Alabama with a degree in Accounting. Following a short stay in New Orleans with Price-Waterhouse, she transferred to the Los Angeles area and then to the Bay Area. She earned her California CPA certificate in 1988. Ms. Jones had her own business, Bird Things, in San Carlos from 1997 to 2003. She moved to Half Moon Bay in 2004 to be close to her horses and friends. Guinivire was also devoted to her four macaws. She continued working for Robert Half International until shortly before going into the hospital and then into hospice care. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Ms. Jones was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd E. Stiffler, Jr. She is survived by her mother Helen Tarr, stepmother Geraldine Stiffler, brother Larry Stiffler, and sisters Susan Stiffler Hess and Elizabeth Stiffler Arp. A memorial service will be held in September in Half Moon Bay.

A new route to school


The morning commute just got better for some Coastside students, their parents and anyone else who must pass a local school in the way to work. SamTrans routes 17 and 294 have changed to make the bus ride more convenient for those at area schools.
