| County plans full-volume siren test Wednesday From staff reports Published/Last Modified on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 9:48 AM PDT San Mateo County emergency managers plan a full-throated test of the Coastside's tsunami warning system. The unusual test - this one for a full minute and at full volume, is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday. Jim Asche, with the county's Office of Emergency Serivices, says the test should be heard by anyone outdoors in the lower El Granada area, including Surfer's Beach, all of Princeton and areas of Pacifica. Asche says this likely will be the only full-volume test this year and that it was scheduled to coincide with National Disaster Preparedness Month. Regular, relatively quiet, 15-second tests are routinely scheduled the first Wednesday of each month. |
