Georges N. Marie-Victoire

Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, Aug 27, 2008 - 11:58:36 am PDT

Dec. 24, 1920-Aug. 12, 2008

Georges was born in Constantine, Algeria, on December 24, 1920. He served in World War II as a fighter pilot for the French Air Force, and during his service he was sent to the United States by President Roosevelt to learn to fly American planes. He was stationed for some time in Denver, Colorado, where he met his wife, Ollie (now Judge Ollie Marie-Victoire of the San Francisco Superior Court, retired).

After the war in 1946 they were married in Denver and moved to San Francisco where Georges became the manager of the liquor department of the old City of Paris department store. He later formed his own company, Victoire Imports and continued as president until his retirement in 1983. In 1956 he and his wife acquired a home on Pescadero Creek Road in Loma Mar, where they have maintained a residence for 52 years. They also have a home in San Francisco for business and professional purposes; however, Loma Mar was first and foremost their most cherished abode.

Georges has many close friends and business associates in the coastal region of Half Moon Bay and will be missed by one and all. He is survived by his wife, Ollie, his daughter, Jeanine Landsinger, son-in-law, Bob Landsinger, and grandchildren Mitchell, Natalie and Christopher.

Georges died of emphysema on August 12, and his family, in lieu of flowers, would appreciate memorials to the American Lung Association, 115 Talbot Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95404 (www.lungusa.org).

Remember teddy bears past

This year, organizers of the Teddy Bear Clinic at Seton Medical Center Coastside plan to preserve the event for posterity by putting together a pamphlet full of personal memories over the event’s 21 years — and they invite Coastsiders to help.
