Richard 'SELTAR' Sevedge

Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, Aug 27, 2008 - 02:26:12 pm PDT

May 21, 1971-Aug. 21, 2008

The afternoon of August 21, the Coastside lost one of its greatest legends. Richard Miles “SELTAR” Sevedge passed away on August 21, 2008, after a very unfortunate electrical accident.

From Colorado to San Diego to Half Moon Bay to Santa Barbara and back. His family and friends are in shock. Why? He was at the top of his game. He was sober with a great job, living in Reno and looking forward to his son Max’s first day of kindergarten.

He was not called or known by his name given by his mom, he was known as the one and only “SELTAR.” He paid his dues on the Coastside living in Moss Beach trailer town. He was the most generous person we ever knew. He would give you the shirt off his back even if it meant going cold himself. That is why he is so loved and respected.

Seltar is survived by his father William, brother John E. Boy, wife Gina and children Gina, Harlow and Maximus.

The services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Reno at Lakeside Community Church, 4685 Lakeside Drive. A trust fund has been set up for Seltar’s family. It is encouraged to all who knew him to help out. Nevada State Bank, Ref# NV State Bank 0548033638.

“Thanks for all the memories Sel! We love you, brother. Your memory and spirit will live on through all of us.” -CJ

Remember teddy bears past

This year, organizers of the Teddy Bear Clinic at Seton Medical Center Coastside plan to preserve the event for posterity by putting together a pamphlet full of personal memories over the event’s 21 years — and they invite Coastsiders to help.
