Adult spits on child, charged with battery

Half Moon Bay Police were dispatched Friday to Spruce Street after a report of battery. The charge stemmed from a woman’s adult roommate spitting in the face of the woman’s 4-year-old child. Police located the 19-year-old suspect, who told the officers that he spit in the child’s face to teach him a lesson after the child spat at him. The mother placed the man under citizen’s arrest.

Half Moon Bay Battery

9 p.m., Aug. 16

A woman filed a domestic violence report, saying her husband pushed her on two occasions and made threats against her. The woman declined to seek prosecution or a restraining order, but sought domestic violence resources.

Child custody

Aug. 21, Cypress Street

A woman called police regarding a child custody dispute. The child’s father took the child for a visit, but failed to return the 1-year-old as promised. After numerous phone calls, the father told the mother she would never see the child again. The woman was advised to obtain a court order for sole custody.

8:10 p.m., Aug. 20, Hawser Lane

A woman refused to relinquish custody of her children to their father. Responding officers advised both to seek legal advice regarding their custody issues.

DUI

12:37 a.m., Aug. 19, Highway 1

A 17-year-old driver was spotted speeding down the highway. Officers performed a traffic stop, and noticed the juvenile appeared intoxicated. The driver was arrested and released to the custody of a parent.

False imprisonment

8:52 p.m., Aug 25, Ventura Street

Police responded to a report of domestic violence between a man and his girlfriend. The 43-year-old man was determined to be the primary aggressor, and was arrested on charges of false imprisonment, vandalism to the woman’s vehicle, and domestic battery.

Insufficient funds

7 p.m., Aug 15, San Mateo Road

Somebody wrote a $1,000 check on a closed account to a local business.

Suspended license

6:16 a.m., Aug. 20, Highway 1

After an officer stopped a vehicle for failing to obey a stop sign, the 29-year-old driver got out and fled on foot. After a foot chase, officers apprehended the suspect and arrested him for obstructing a peace officer and driving with a suspended license.

Theft

10:35 a.m., Aug. 19, Highway 1

Officers were dispatched to respond to the theft of a water bottle, valued at $2.

7:45 p.m., Aug. 24, Miramontes Point Road

Somebody broke into an unlocked vehicle, stealing an iPod and two speakers, all together valued at $900.

4:50 a.m., Aug 25, Alsace Lorraine Avenue

A victim reported about $2,500 worth of electronics were stolen from the bed of a pickup truck. The truck had a camper shell, but the tailgate was not properly secured.

Vandalism

7 a.m., Aug. 23, Mill Street

An unknown suspect broke several windows on a parked vehicle.

1:44 p.m., Aug. 24, San Mateo Road

Patrol officers saw two known gang members spraypainting graffiti on a wall. Twenty-one-year-old Hector Torres and 23-year-old Ramon Nuñez were arrested for vandalism and participation in a criminal gang. A small amount of marijuana was found on Nuñez.

Warrant

12:25 a.m., Aug 25, Poplar Beach

A patrol officer heard shouting on the Poplar Beach trail and found a 24-year-old man sleeping on a bench. The man, Robert Haywood, was found to have a felony warrant out of Davis and was arrested.

Incident

12:01 a.m., Aug. 15, Etheldore Street

A girl received a text message from her boyfriend saying he was going to “get strapped” and look for someone who he believed his girlfriend was having an affair with. Police were notified of the incident.

Princeton

Public intoxication

10:21 p.m., Aug 17, Capistrano Road

Sheriff’s deputies were doing a routine check of a bar when they heard a man screaming inside the bar. The bartender escorted the man out, and deputies followed him. The man continued to scream and approached the deputies in an aggressive manner, waving his hands and yelling. It was determined the man was drunk and a danger to others.

11:59 p.m., Aug 18, Johnson Pier

Deputies responded to a request from the Harbormaster’s Office to assist with an intoxicated subject. The man in question was being assisted to his boat by friends. The man was determined to be drunk, unable to stand on his own.

Assault

12:45 a.m., Aug 17, Pear Orchard Way

Deputies were dispatched to the Moonridge Housing Complex to respond to a large gang fight in progress. One of the victims was struck in the face with a beer bottle and another was kicked numerous times. After the fight was broken up, three people were arrested.

Theft

1:18 p.m., Aug. 16, Hawthorn Walk

A man’s work vehicle was stolen. According to the victim, somebody broke into his vehicle two weeks ago, taking his computer, computer case and a spare set of keys.
