Wayward son wanders onto Devil'€™s Slide

San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies were alerted to a man walking on Devil’s Slide. When deputies found the man, they discovered he was reported missing out of San Francisco by his father. The son said he had missed his bus and couldn’t call home because his cell phone was dead — so he decided to walk. Deputies gave him a courtesy ride to a Pacifica restaurant to wait for his father to pick him up.

10:30 a.m., Aug. 13, San Mateo Road

Somebody forced open the window of an office and broke one of the window panes. However, it appeared that no one actually entered the office or stole anything.

Disorderly conduct

12:22 a.m., Aug. 13, Kelly Avenue

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person. Officers encountered the 42-year-old Half Moon Bay resident and determined he was too drunk to take care of himself. He was arrested and taken to jail.

12:45 a.m., Aug 15, Highway 1

Officers responded to a man passed out in a vehicle parked in front of a residence. The 23-year-old was determined to be too drunk to take care of himself and he was taken to jail.

4:05 p.m., Aug. 17, Kelly Avenue

Officers found a man passed out in front of a downtown Laundromat. The 45-year-old man was arrested for public intoxication.

8:15 p.m., Aug. 18, Myrtle Street

Officers responded to a report of a fight between a landlord and tenants. One person was found to be too drunk to care for herself and was arrested for public intoxication.

9:26 p.m., Aug. 14, Highway 1

Police were called to respond to a drunken driver. The driver was pulled over, found to be intoxicated, and also admitted to smoking marijuana. The 22-year-old was arrested.

11:35 p.m., Aug. 15, Kelly Avenue

Officer stopped a vehicle speeding down the road. The 34-year-old driver failed sobriety tests and was arrested on DUI charges along with having no license, driving at an unsafe speed and passing lanes within 100 feet of an intersection.

11:30 p.m. Aug 18., Highway 1

Police stopped a car speeding down the highway. The 26-year-old driver was determined to be intoxicated and admitted to smoking marijuana two hours earlier. He was charged with DUI and speeding and taken to First Chance.

1:11 p.m., Aug. 9, San Mateo Road

A worker was accused of using his employer’s account several times to pay for gas for his personal vehicle. The case has been forwarded to the district attorney.

False registration

3:50 p.m., Aug 13, Highway 1

A driver was cited for using a fake registration year tab on his car and also driving with expired registration.

Indecent exposure

11:15 a.m., Aug. 17, Purissima Street and Correas Avenue

A woman reported a possible indecent exposure, saying she saw a man masturbating in a downtown alleyway.

Probation violation

10:30 a.m., Aug. 14, Main Street

An officer was dispatched to respond to a young driver who was making verbal threats to others. The driver was found to be violating his probation terms.

5:30 p.m., Aug. 15, Highway 1

A passenger in a parked vehicle was found drinking beer. The man was determined to be on probation on a condition of no alcohol.

9:50 p.m., Aug. 15, Highway 1

Police assisted Alcohol Beverage Control officers in citing a 45-year-old restaurant owner for selling liquor to a minor decoy.

2:15 a.m., Aug. 12, Valdez Avenue

A 20-year-old with an outstanding $7,500 warrant was stopped by an officer. He was arrested and taken to San Mateo County Jail.

8:43 p.m., Aug.7, Mirada Road

Deputies located a suspect at her hotel room after she was pointed out as leaving the area of a hit-and-run collision. The suspect failed sobriety tests and was determined to be driving drunk at the time of the accident. The woman’s blood alcohol content was determined to be approximately 0.20.

9:36 p.m., Aug. 10, La Granada Street

Severo Maya-Mendez was arrested for public intoxication and subsequently a small bag of methamphetamine was found in his right sock. He was charged with a felony drug violation.

8:56 p.m., Aug. 6, Johnson Pier

Somebody damaged a Dumpster to cut out about 10 feet of copper wire. The damage was estimated to be about $50.
