An off-duty officer saw two men fighting and intervened to separate them. The two men, one a 33-year-old from La Honda, and the other a 53-year-old from Montara, had an altercation stemming from a road rage incident. One man punched the other after being charged. Both men wished to seek prosecution of the other.
11:51 p.m., Aug. 8, Main Street
Police say a drunken and uninvited David Andrew Stariha tried to attend a private party at a downtown restaurant. When the 30-year-old was asked to leave, he reportedly stole a beer and went outside. Police say the man then attacked a bartender with a broken beer bottle, slashing the bartender’s hand. Stariha fled on foot and was located a short time later trying to drive away from the area, according to a police report of the incident. At first, Stariha is said to have failed to stop for police, but he yielded after driving for a half mile.
Battery
2:40 p.m., Aug. 9, Miramontes Avenue
An officer was dispatched to a report of battery, involving a man who accused a woman of kicking him after an argument. The woman said the man kicked her dog. He denied that, saying he merely put his leg out to block her dog from interacting with his. The man declined to seek prosecution against the woman.
Burglary
11:30 p.m., Aug. 6, Amesport Landing
Somebody entered a home through an unlocked sliding door and took a laptop valued at $1,000.
June 22, Grove Street
A citizen reported a case of identity theft when someone opened a credit card account using her husband’s name and Social Security number. The account was opened in Sonoma, and the case has been forwarded to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office for investigation.
Suspicious circumstance
10:10 a.m., Aug. 9, Laurel Avenue
Someone gained access to a first-floor condominium balcony, leaving muddy footprints around the area.
Theft
July 24, Pine Avenue
Video equipment worth more than $1,800 was stolen from an unlocked garage.
12 p.m., Aug. 2, Cypress Point Road
Somebody stole a Mercedes emblem from a vehicle.
11:25 a.m., Aug. 9, Highway 1
Somebody accessed a vehicle through a broken side window and stole a stereo and other items valued at $285.
6 p.m., Aug. 9
Someone took a Trek bicycle and a backpack from a parked vehicle.
5:45 a.m., Aug. 10, Main Street
An unknown suspect used a torch or another tool to break open a money-changing machine at a car wash in hopes of stealing quarters. The damaged coin machine was valued at $3,000.
Traffic collision
8:37 a.m., Aug. 8, Redondo Beach Road
A driver reported sharp pains in his head and back after a major injury collision. The driver was treated by paramedics and transported to a hospital.
Warrant
3:07 p.m., Aug. 11, San Mateo Road
An officer responded to a report of four suspects drinking beer behind a Half Moon Bay business. One of the drinkers, a 55-year-old from Pescadero, was found to have two warrants out for his arrest — one from San Mateo County and another from Mendocino County.
