Geraldine passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, August 3, 2008. She was 88.

Gerri was the oldest woman living in Pescadero. She was one of the two remaining people who had been born and spent her entire life in Pescadero.

She loved to garden, keep up with her baseball games and the horse races. She also enjoyed her occasional Reno trips to gamble. She had a great memory of the history of Pescadero and loved sharing stories. Prior to retirement in 1996 she had many jobs, but one she enjoyed for over 20 years was working at Cunha’s Country Store in Half Moon Bay.

Gerri was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard (Bud) J. Burns. She is survived by her sons B.J. (Lorene) Burns of Pescadero, Robert (Sandy) Burns of Poulsbo, WA, her daughter Patricia (Frank) Sarabia of Pescadero, her grandchildren Bryan (Gorete) Burns, Bridget Burns, Helen (Shad) Steiger, Katie (Chris) Buxton, Steven (Christy) Sarabia, Greg Sarabia, Rick (Morgan) Sarabia, great-grandchildren Julie and Kevin Burns, Charianna, Dakota and Thomas Steiger, Kristin, Austin and Gavin Buxton, Cody, Jacob and Joshua Sarabia and Sydney Sarabia.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at the Miller-Dutra Chapel, 645 Kelly Ave., Half Moon Bay. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2008 at Our Lady of the Pillar Church. Interment will follow at Skylawn Memorial Park, Half Moon Bay.
