Ex-husband assaults former wife'€™s boyfriend

On the evening of July 10, an ex-husband arrived at Pigeon Point Lighthouse, believing his ex-wife was staying at the hostel there. It turned out his ex-wife was gone, but her new boyfriend was there instead. A fight broke out and the ex-husband hit the other man several times in the face and body with a baseball bat, according to a Sheriff’s Office report. The ex-husband was arrested on charges of assault, burglary and vandalism.

A local café owner reported two juveniles tried to kick in the door of his restaurant. The owner encountered the two young men, who ran away.

9:58 p.m., July 13, Miramontes Point Road

Three young men snuck into the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay to use the Jacuzzi. The three asked a housekeeper for towels, but were given a warning instead and told not to return to the hotel.

10:10 p.m., July 15, Kelly Avenue

A vehicle was stopped for failing to stop at the traffic sign, and officers discovered the 25-year-old driver was a parolee in possession of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

10:57 p.m., July 18, Miramontes Point Road

Officers encountered occupants inside a car parked after dark in a day-use lot. One passenger, a 19-year-old woman, identified herself with false information, giving her sister’s name and birth date. Officers reported that she smelled of marijuana.

11:41 p.m., July 18, Highway 1

A patrolling officer pulled over a driver after noticing the vehicle veer toward the center divider. The 26-year-old driver was found to be intoxicated, and also driving with a suspended license.

July 17, Kelly Avenue

Somebody stole a Social Security number and used it to open a PG&E account in Bakersfield.

Missing Person

3:33 p.m., July 15, Miramontes Street

Police served an arrest warrant on a woman wanted in Hawaii for abducting a 4-year-old child. Both the woman and the child were found to be living in Half Moon Bay. The 49-year-old woman was taken to jail for extradition, and the child was taken to Child Protective Services

Two juveniles blamed each other for a challenge to a fight.

Petty theft

1:55 p.m., July 16, Highway 1

A juvenile at Long’s Drugs reportedly took a package of lighters and walked out the door, triggering the alarm. The juvenile refused to open his backpack when asked by store employees. Instead, the young man gave the employee two lighters and ran from the scene before police arrived.

Unlicensed driver

12:36 a.m., July 20, Highway 1

An officer pulled over a vehicle for a turn signal violation, and discovered the 17-year-old driver didn’t have a license. The driver also admitted to having smoked marijuana in the vehicle, and was in possession of a small amount of marijuana and an open container of alcohol in his trunk. The driver was cited and released on the promise to appear in court.

Vandalism

5:19 a.m., July 17, Pilarcitos Avenue

A suspicious person was reported near the victim’s vehicle. When an officer arrived, he found the vehicle’s window had been smashed. Officers were unable to locate the suspected person.

3:34 p.m., July 16, Main Street

An officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for a moving violation, and found the driver was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant from outside the county. The 41-year-old driver was arrested and taken to jail.

8:47 p.m., July 13, Capistrano Road

Deputies pulled over a vehicle for a standard vehicle code violation, but noticed the driver showed signs of intoxication. The 67-year-old driver failed field sobriety texts and admitted to consuming alcohol.

Unincorporated San Mateo County

Assault

12:27 a.m., July 13, Bear Gulch Road

Two men got into a verbal fight that turned physical when one of the men stabbed the other two times in the upper torso with a three-inch folding knife. Bystanders restrained the assailant, who reportedly yelled several times, “I’ll kill all of you!”

2:20 p.m., July 12, Skyline Boulevard

A man asked a motorcycle seller about going on a test ride of a bike. After filling out all the required paperwork, the man took off on the bike. The bike seller soon reported the bike as stolen, and Sheriff’s deputies found the subject riding on the highway. He professed his innocence, saying he was just going on a test ride. The bike seller admitted she might have forgotten to explain to the man that he had to wait for an escort for the test ride.
