He was born in New York on April 24, 1937, the son of Angelo Malaspina and Regina Gallo Malaspina. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Bill was employed by E.I. Dupont for 33 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1991. He lived in Montara for over 20 years, with his 3 daughters, before relocating to Waterville, Ohio for his job. Bill loved to fish and had several commercial fishing boats over the years. He was also a Paul Harris Fellow of the Waterville Rotary Club and was involved with many projects over the years. He volunteered at the Heartland of Waterville Adult Care Center, taking residents “Fishing with Bill” at the pond. He enjoyed a yearly trip to The Winds on Ocean Isle, North Carolina, where he was often mistaken for a resort employee as he taught folks to fish or discuss how to cook the local seafood. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Cheryl Malaspina of Waterville, Ohio; his daughters Annette (John) Moore of Lakeport, Calif.; Suzanne (Jon) Bruce of Half Moon Bay, Calif.; Lorna (Gene) Havlik of Colfax, Calif.; his mother Regina Malaspina of San Bruno, Calif.; his sister Kay (Kevin) Stickney of Redwood City, Calif.; his brother Fred Malaspina; and his grandchildren, Ashley and Felicia Moore, Nicole and Allan Bruce, and Liam and Madison Havlik.
