| Thomas H. Carlson Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 2:35 PM PDT Thomas H. Carlson passed away on June 28 at the age of 72. He was born April 8, 1936 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Oscar and Catherine Carlson. After graduating from high school, Tom joined the Army and served as a Radio Operator in Korea. Upon leaving the Army, he enrolled at California State University, Chico and obtained a B.S. degree in agriculture. After graduation, Tom began a long career with the USDA as a Soil Conservation Specialist. He retired in 1990 and moved back to the Chico area, where he resided until his death. He enjoyed farming, ranching and outdoor activities. He is survived by his mother, Catherine Carlson; brother, Paul Carlson and sister, Carol Kusy. He is also survived by three of his children, Mark Carlson, Ruth Scherschligt and Joe Carlson, along with two grandchildren, Matthew and Iris, and by the mother of his children, Beverly Carlson. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Carlson and brother, Jimmy Carlson. Tom had a giving heart and was always willing to help those in need. He worked hard all his life and was a wonderful father to his four children. He will be remembered for his generosity and devotion to family and friends. Services will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Brusie Funeral Home, 626 Broadway, Chico. |
