El Granada Elementary searches for principal

El Granada Elementary School Principal Melinda Fore has accepted the position of Coordinator of Categorical Programs and Accountability for the San Mateo County Office of Education. Her first day on the new job is today.

Fore had been principal at El Granada for about five years. Prior to joining the Cabrillo Unified School District management team, she served as the Reading Recovery Specialist for the San Mateo-Foster City Elementary District.

"It's a big loss for the district," CUSD Superintendent Rob Gaskill said in a release. "I never worried about programs and practices at El Granada under her watch."

Gaskill said the position has been advertised and he expects to have a new principal in place by the Aug. 14 CUSD board meeting - if not sooner.

"I have a lot of mixed emotions," Fore said in the same release. "I will miss the kids. For everything I may have given them as principal, they gave me back something bigger."

I can’t pass a bookstore without at least glancing in the window, and if I’m not careful, I’m likely to wander inside and just plain forget where I was headed in such a hurry.
