San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a driver for a traffic violation. When they asked Pedro Alas to step out of the vehicle, he ran. He was captured and charged with drunken driving as well as felony child endangerment because a child in the back seat was not properly restrained. A passenger was also charged with giving false information to officers.

Someone took a basket of possessions out of a car parked in the victim’s driveway. The basket was recovered nearby but without the wallet and cell phone that had been inside it.

A 16-year-old, hosting a party, called police when uninvited guests caused trouble when asked to leave.

5:02 a.m., June 20, Fairway Drive
Police contacted a man who had been reported as driving recklessly and ultimately charged him with DUI. The 24-year-old Half Moon Bay man was taken to county jail.
Hit-and-run
4:40 p.m., June 12, Stone Pine Road
Police have identified the man who allegedly clipped a fire hydrant, causing a large geyser in downtown Half Moon Bay as 52-year-old Curtis Fleharty. The case was sent to the district attorney; Police Chief Don O’Keefe said the man could face charges of driving while under the influence of prescription medication and hit-and-run.
5:12 p.m., June 20, Poplar Beach
Police charged a 21-year-old Half Moon Bay man with hit-and-run, driving without a license and having no proof of insurance after an incident on Poplar Beach.

7 a.m., June 17, Oak Avenue
Someone stole $300 worth of stereo equipment from a parked car.
8 a.m., June 17, Touraine Lane
A resident reported the theft of a laptop from a car. The crime occurred two days earlier.
11 a.m., June 20, Central Avenue
Police received a report of the theft of $63.60 cents worth of gasoline, stolen from a vehicle.

A woman complained that her neighbor threatened to shoot her doors with a shotgun during an argument. The case was forwarded to the district attorney for review.

A vandal threw a rock through a church window.

A woman complained that her neighbor may have intentionally scratched her car while cleaning his gutters.

The victim of vandalism told Sheriff’s deputies he suspects kids shot out the window of his car with a pellet gun.

Someone cut a screen on a second-story door and gained access to the garage. Nothing was taken. Deputies were able to recover evidence at the scene.

10:01 p.m., June 5, Highway 1
Deputies stopped 26-year-old Reymundo Mendoza-Perez on his bike and found the man to be wanted for an outstanding warrant. He was charged with giving false information to deputies and felony possession of methamphetamine.

Fugitive
10:08 p.m., June 6, Highway 1
Deputies stopped 28-year-old Christopher Ratti for a traffic violation and found him wanted on a felony fugitive from justice warrant out of Oregon. He was also charged with felony possession of hashish and taken to county jail.
