A disturbing encounter on Miramontes Point Road

Half Moon Bay Police were called to Miramontes Point Road at 2:28 a.m., on May 22, in connection with a man disturbing the peace. A 43-year-old South Korean was not responsive to police and appeared to be drunk. He was taken to county jail and later released.

A man told police that an unknown member of a gang from outside the area struck him on the head and fled the scene.

10 a.m., May 19, Silver Avenue

Someone broke a window lock, crawled into a house and stole a laptop, a Playstation, watches and collectable coins.

Driving without a license

2:30 a.m., May 19, Kelly Avenue

A 31-year-old Half Moon Bay man was cited for driving without a license and running a stop sign.

11:50 p.m., May 21, Highway 1

Police ticketed a 35-year-old San Jose resident for having no license after stopping him for unsafe driving.

DUI

10:23 p.m., May 21, Highway 1

A 35-year-old transient was seen weaving in lanes of traffic and police found her to be under the influence of alcohol. She was taken to First Chance.

12:31 p.m., May 21, Highway 1

Dispatch received a call about an unsafe driver. When police pulled over the 25-year-old San Mateo woman, she failed a field sobriety test.

8:39 a.m., May 21, Oak Avenue

Someone dumped a basketball hoop in the middle of the road.

Restraining order

1:22 p.m., May 20, Kelly Avenue

A 57-year-old transient was cited and released after a resident reported him near her house in violation of a restraining order.

Theft

10 a.m., May 19, Kelly Avenue

A homeowner reported the theft of a bicycle from a carport. The suspect cut a lock cable of a red and silver bike with rear suspension.

8:45 a.m., May 20, Valencia Avenue

Police took a report of the theft of a computer scanner from an unlocked car.

2:30 p.m., May 22, Main Street

A woman told police that she left her keys in the lock of her door and when she returned they were gone.

A resident saw a suspicious man removing scrap metal from a neighbor’s property. The man confronted the thief and, when he didn’t leave, called 911. Deputies caught the man and an accomplice and charged them with a variety of crimes including grand theft and conspiracy.

A woman reported her purse stolen from her parked truck.

Someone entered an unlocked car and stole a backpack that had a passport, among other things, inside.

2:33 a.m., May 16, Capistrano Road

Deputies arrested a 53-year-old from San Gabriel after he narrowly missed colliding with the center divider. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to county jail.

Public intoxication

8:12 p.m., May 16, Lake Street

Deputies responded to the report of a drunken man lying in the middle of a dirt trail. The 37-year-old Moss Beach resident was asleep with a beer in his hand. He was taken to county jail when deputies determined he couldn’t care for himself.
