| Cabrillo bus involved in minor accident Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 4:12 PM PDT A small bus used by the Cabrillo Unified School District to transport special needs students was involved in a minor fender bender Tuesday morning. The accident occurred near the intersection of Highway 92 and Main Street in Half Moon Bay shortly before 8 a.m. District Superintendent Rob Gaskill said there were six students on the yellow school bus when it was struck from behind by a passenger car. No one was injured in the accident. Gaskill wasn’t immediately able to say where the bus was headed, but said six students would be near capacity for the bus. El Granada Burglary 10:33 a.m., May 3, Coral Reef Someone busted the passenger side window of a parked car overnight and took a bag with possessions valued at $160. Theft 10 p.m., May 1, The Alameda Overnight on April 28 someone opened an unlocked car door and took camera equipment and a wallet. 12:19 p.m., May 6, El Granada Boulevard A thief took a computer and several other things — together valued at more than $2,000 — from an unlocked car. Half Moon Bay Counterfeit money 2:05 p.m., May 7, Kelly Avenue A store employee notified police about a man trying to pass a counterfeit $50 bill. The man said he didn’t know it was fake. The case was turned over to the U.S. Secret Service. Disorderly conduct 10:14 a.m., May 8, Lewis Foster Drive Police detained four teenage boys — between the ages of 15 and 17 — for disorderly conduct and being drunk at school. Some of the teens admitted to belonging to a gang. The 15-year-old had brass knuckles and he was taken to the county’s juvenile detention center. The others were released to their parents. Domestic dispute May 7, Terrace Avenue Police met with a woman who said she had received a threatening e-mail from her sister and wanted the incident documented. Driving without a license 9:46 p.m., May 5, Main Street A 19-year-old Half Moon Bay resident was cited for not having a license. Drugs 11:59 p.m., May 10, Highway 1 Police stopped a 16-year-old Montara resident who was on probation. They found pills inside the car and charged him with several offenses before releasing him to his parents. DUI 10:57 p.m, May 9, Main Street Police detained a 17-year-old girl after seeing her weave in traffic while driving without her headlights. She was found to be intoxicated and released to her parents. Hit-and-run 11:30 a.m., May 7, Main Street Witnesses pointed out a man involved in a hit-and-run. The man admitted that he had no license and explained that he ran into a streetlight in order to avoid hitting a car. The case is being forwarded to the district attorney. Suspicious circumstance 10 p.m., May 5, Kelly Avenue A 48-year-old man told police he was sleeping on a bench when something hit him on the head. He couldn’t say what it was and police found no evidence of any assault. Theft May 6, Highway 92 A local resident said he returned home after a two-month absence to find some stereo equipment missing from his car. 9:56 p.m., May 6, Highway 1 Police arrested a 29-year-old Pacifica resident for defrauding an innkeeper when he tried to pay an $84.39 tab with an inoperative credit card. Employees say the man was seen running from the restaurant. Police caught up with him at a nearby bar. He also had a glass pipe used for methamphetamine with him at the time of his arrest. Vicious dog 12:05 p.m., May 7, Miramontes Street A mail carrier told police that he was chased by a dog. A passing delivery man helped get the dog back into its own backyard until police arrived. Warrants 2:52 p.m., May 6, Kelly Avenue Police cited a 26-year-old Half Moon Bay resident who had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Montara Theft 7:50 a.m., May 2, Buena Vista Street Overnight, someone removed a briefcase containing a laptop and cell phone from a car. The goods were valued at $4,700. 8:41 a.m., May 4, Birch Street Someone entered a vehicle overnight and took several electronic gadgets that were together valued at almost $1,000. 4:38 p.m., May 5, 12th Street Someone took a handbag containing a $300 camera from an unlocked car. Vandalism 12:21 p.m., May 3, Audobon Street Over the past week, an unoccupied home was vandalized twice. The damage was put at $1,300. Witnesses say they saw two young children flee the scene. Pescadero Theft 9:08 a.m., May 2, North Street A thief took 100 brass sprinkler heads from irrigation lines in a field west of Stage Road. The loss was put at $1,500. Princeton DUI 12:29 a.m., May 4, Johnson Pier Police arrested a 26-year-old Moss Beach man for DUI after he failed to stop at a stop sign and subsequently failed field sobriety tests. Public intoxication 10:39 p.m., May 4, Capistrano Road Deputies were dispatched to a fight at a bar. When they got there, they found the fight was between two sons and their father. One man, a 29-year-old from Boulder, Colo., was too drunk to care for himself and taken to county jail. |
