The Half Moon Bay High School baseball team has received one of the nine at-large bids and will play in the Central Coast Section baseball playoffs. Meanwhile, the softball team will be the No. 4 seed in its division.

The Cougars' boys (17-10) begin their quest at 4 p.m. Wednesday, playing at Live Oak in Morgan Hills in Division III. The third-seeded Acorns (22-7) were co-champions of the Mt. Hamilton Athletic League. Half Moon Bay, the No. 14 seed in the 16-team tournament, shared the championship with two other teams in the Peninsula Athletic League Ocean Division. The winner of that game plays the winner of the Sacred Heart Prep/Robert Louis Stevenson game at a date a site to be announced. The Half Moon Bay softball team, already assured of a playoff spot thanks to sharing the PAL Bay Division title with Carlmont, earned the No. 4 seed in Division III. The Cougars (21-5-1) play their opening round game at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Hawes Park in Redwood City against The Kings' Academy. The Knights (13-11) finished second in the Private School Athletic League. If Half Moon Bay wins, it will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hawes Park against the winner of the Notre Dame-Belmont/Alma Heights game.
