The Moss Beach resident spends about 25 minutes twice each workday to get from home to her job in the accounting department of Odwalla in Half Moon Bay. She does it three days a week in the winter — she drives the other two days in order to take her son to school — but longs for summer, when she can ride every day.
Bicycling has been a big part of her life for about 15 years, she says. She belongs to a dedicated women’s group of bicyclists, who call themselves the “BBBs” — the “Bodacious Babes on Bikes” — who have been nicknamed the “Domestically Delinquent Divas” by waggish husbands, she said.

She takes a proactive approach to her riding, especially in those times of year when days are short and she rides after dusk or before full morning light. She has equipped her bike with a headlight, which is as bright as an automobile light and reflective red lights in back. She advocates wearing layers, both for protection and against changes in the weather, dons lots of Spandex from her wardrobe of bicycling gear which she calls “not very attractive but comfortable” and always uses a good helmet.
