Judith Swift Harris

Born to parents Marion Patterson Swift and Charles F. Swift, Jr. and raised in Walpole, Massachusetts. She summered in Fairhaven, Mass. with grandparents Lucy and Charles F. Swift, Sr. She was a graduate of the Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina. Most of her life was spent in California, summer camping at Pinecrest and, later, vacationing each year in Maui, HI.

Judy excelled in sports, especially swimming, and taught physical education for many years at Tennyson High School in Hayward, Calif. After retirement she moved to Half Moon Bay on the California coast.


She ushered frequently at San Francisco Ballet Company performaces and was a regular patron at Stern Grove in San Francisco each summer.

Her sister, two sons and a daughter, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many, many friends will remember always her sunny smile and beautiful blue eyes.

Color springs eternal


Much to the delight of fair-weather hikers, both early and late-season wildflowers are blooming together in the hills and grasslands in what can be described as a compacted season. The reason may be a colder, drier spring that has kept seeds from germinating in cool soils.
