Local ranger joins Fitzgerald board

Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, Apr 09, 2008 - 12:52:55 pm PDT

Visitors to Fitzgerald Marine Reserve are likely to recognize Ranger Sarah Lenz. The Half Moon Bay resident looks after the sensitive tide pools, which are home to harbor seals, hermit crabs and other aquatic critters. She also directs Junior Ranger Camps, which help children learn how to interact with the reserve’s wildlife.

Now Lenz’s duties at Fitzgerald are growing. Along with two other Peninsula residents, Lenz is joining the Friends of Fitzgerald Marine Reserve’s Board of Directors.

Lenz grew up in Santa Cruz and graduated from San Francisco State University. Before becoming a Fitzgerald ranger, she worked for Año Nuevo State Reserve and Half Moon Bay State Beach.
