Pool game goes wrong

Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, Mar 26, 2008 - 02:00:49 pm PDT

Two men got into a fight at a La Honda bar after a contentious game of pool shortly before midnight on March 15. The winner went out to smoke a cigarette and upon his return the loser had claimed control of the table, contravening long-established practice that suggests the winner gets the next game. A brouhaha developed and the loser hit the winner on the head with a pool cue. The winner struck back, dropping the loser to the floor. San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies added insult to injury, taking the loser to county jail on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
