The boy was riding his skateboard near the intersection of Naples Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard when he was accosted by a man who appeared to be about 60 years old. The man, who was driving a silver Lexus with out-of-state license plates, reportedly told the boy he was a “typical stupid American” and then made an obscene gesture. Police searched the area but couldn’t find the man. El Granada DUI 1:09 a.m., March 8, Avenue Alhambra San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a man after noticing that his car had been stopped in the middle of Highway 1. He initially tried to drive away when approached. The 44-year-old was taken to county jail. 6:01 p.m., March 11, Highway 1 Deputies stopped a 56-year-old San Carlos woman after witnesses told them the woman was driving drunk. The woman flunked field sobriety tests and was taken to county jail. Half Moon Bay Attempted burglary 1:15 a.m., March 13, Main Street An officer on routine patrol arrested three Half Moon Bay men on a number of charges stemming from what police say was an attempted burglary. Police say Biren Jayswal, Osman Yousif and Patrick Connor were loitering in front of a medical office and in possession of tools that can be used in a burglary. There were pry marks found on the door. Jayswal was charged with attempted burglary, loitering and conspiracy to commit a crime; Yousif was charged with attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, committing a crime while on bail, possession of a dangerous weapon and conspiracy; Connor was charged with attempted burglary, loitering and conspiracy. Disturbance 5:30 p.m., March 13, Highway 92 Two people got into a shouting match when one of them parked a commercial vehicle in a place that blocked access to the other’s business. Drugs 9:37 p.m., March 10, Highway 92 After a traffic stop, officers found 27-year-old Edgardo Acosta Partida with numerous zip-lock baggies containing methamphetamines and cocaine as well as drug paraphernalia. He was charged with several drug-related offenses and taken to county jail. Fight 8:50 a.m., March 13, Lewis Foster Drive Two teens were suspended from school after police responded to a fight. Identity theft March 10, Purissima Street A taxpayer told police that someone attempted to file a tax return using his Social Security number and name. It was unclear whether the act was a clerical error or intentional. Theft 2 p.m., March 11, Highway 1 A woman said a thief made off with her shopping cart, containing $90 worth of groceries, when she had her head turned. March 13, Coastal Trail Police noted the theft of the five remaining brass plaques on public benches on the trail. The name plates had marked donations to the city’s Parks and Recreation Division. Threats 1:10 p.m., March 13, Miramontes Avenue A Hatch Elementary School administrator told police that a 10-year-old girl “made threatening comments” to another girl because she was playing tetherball with a boy the first girl likes. The parents of the girl making the threats were told to keep the child at home the next day to cool off. Administrators planned to meet with the parents before the girl was allowed back in school. Montara DUI 12:19 a.m., March 13, Highway 1 Deputies were monitoring traffic when a car passed at an estimated 100 mph. They gave chase and noticed a cloud of smoke up ahead. The vehicle had crashed into the Montara Army/Navy store. Three people emerged from the wreckage. Two passengers were taken to the hospital. The driver refused medical attention and was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. (Due to confusion in the court filings, the original version of this story incorrectly stated the driver was "arrested" on suspicion of a felony. He was later charged with a felony, according to court records, but eventually pleaded to a misdemeanor charge.) Theft 9 a.m., March 6, Kelmore Street Someone stole a purse from an ulocked vehicle. Princeton DUI 1:45 a.m., March 8, Capistrano Road A 21-year-old Moss Beach woman was arrested for DUI after she failed field sobriety tests. She was taken to county jail. 10:31 p.m., March 8, Capistrano Road A 41-year-old Princeton man was arrested for DUI after running a stop sign. He also had an outstanding warrant. Vandalism 4:37 p.m., March 10, Johnson Pier Deputies arrested Sean Tosh Clark, 40, for felony vandalism and giving a false identity to an officer. A witness said Clark was responsible for damaging a men’s room. Clark initially gave his twin brother’s name to authorities but later confessed his true identity. Unincorporated San Mateo County Burglary 6:23 p.m., March 7, Cowell Ranch State Beach A thief broke the window of a car to get a purse that had been left on the floorboard. |
