Maria Cecilia Brazil, died March 2, 2008 in Mountain View at 89 years old. Maria was born in Soa Jorge, Azores on May 15, 1918. She came to the United States in 1961 and lived in Modesto, Calif. until 1964. She later moved to Half Moon Bay in 1964 and has since resided. Maria was a member of the P.C.C. and Our Lady of Fatima Legion, UPEC, the Brotherhood of St. Anthony. Maria enjoyed crotcheting, knitting and spending time with her family and friends. She was not only a grandmother, but a great-grandmother, and will be dearly missed by family and friends. Preceded in death by Joao Mederios Brazil, she was survived by her children John Brazil, Paul Medeiros, Maria Monteiro, Gorett Brazil, her sister Maria Machado and brother Nestor da Silva, daughters-in-law Elizabeth and Maria Ester, son-in-law Manuel, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
There will be a Rosary on Wednesday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. at our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church. Visitation is from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Miller Dutra. The Mass and funeral is Thursday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church.
