Police surprise five people in storage container

Half Moon Bay Police say they found five people and their drugs hidden inside a storage container on Highway 92 at 11:30 p.m. Friday. Two of them - men aged 24 and 30 respectively - were in violation of their parole and arrested. They were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and being present when drugs were used. The case was forwarded on to the district attorney to decide whether the other three would face charges.

Alcohol violation

4:52 p.m., Jan. 30, Poplar Avenue

Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and found an 18-year-old inside, drinking beer. He was cited for possession of alcohol.

Attempted burglary

7 a.m., Jan. 29, Myrtle Street

Overnight someone tampered with the window screens on a private residence. The would-be burglars didn't get inside.

Distubance

4:09 p.m., Jan. 28, Granelli Avenue

Police responded to a disturbance after a family was admonished for riding all-terrain vehicles through city streets.

Domestic battery

12:05 p.m., Jan. 28, Myrtle Street

Police arrested 53-year-old Steve Girard of Half Moon Bay after he reportedly admitted pushing his ex-girlfriend, leaving noticeable marks on her back. He was taken to county jail.

Driving without a license

7:50 a.m., Jan. 28, Poplar Avenue

A 24-year-old Half Moon Bay man was charged with driving without a license or insurance.

1:18 a.m., Jan. 29, Kelly Avenue

A 30-year-old Half Moon Bay man was cited for driving without a license and for driving without lights.

DUI

12:01 a.m., Jan. 30, Highway 1

Police arrested a 20-year-old Pescadero woman for DUI after stopping her for failing to dim her high beams. She failed field sobriety tests and was taken to First Chance.

Theft

5:40 p.m., Jan. 29, 3rd Avenue

Someone stole a license plate from a parked car overnight.

MIRAMAR

DUI

7:45 p.m., Jan. 26, Miramar Drive

San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies on patrol saw a car cross the double-yellow line. They stopped the car, interviewed the driver and determined she was drunk. She was taken to county jail.

MONTARA

Counterfeit bill

9:23 a.m., Jan. 30, Highway 1

Someone tried to pass a counterfeit $20 bill at a business in Montara but an alert clerk spotted the fake. The would-be thief asked for the bill but the clerk kept it and told him he was calling police. The man made his escape northbound on Highway 1 before authorities arrived.

Child endangerment

7:36 p.m., Jan. 26, Admiral Street

A jogger noticed a baby crying inside a vehicle. She alerted deputies who found the mother, who said she left the baby because it was sleeping. Authorities alerted state Child Protective Services who determined it best to leave the child with the mother.

PRINCETON

Burglary

8 a.m., Jan. 28, Harvard Avenue

Someone gained entry into a victim's car overnight, making off with items valued at $600.

Theft

12:02 p.m., Jan. 25, Yale Avenue

Overnight, someone took a 4-by-8-foot section of "aluminum diamond plate" from the bed of a truck parked on the 200 block of Yale. It was valued at $1,000.
