San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a break-in to the still-under-construction Harbor Village shopping center in Princeton. Deputies responded to an alarm at 2:17 a.m. on Dec. 23. The owner of the property found that a fire extinguisher had been discharged on the third floor of the hotel. The chemical may have tripped the alarm. Nothing was taken. It may be related to a felony vandalism across Highway 1 at the old Red Ginger restaurant that was reported that same night. Nothing was taken, but a fire extinguisher was used there as well.

A homeowner spooked a prowler who was attempting to gain entrance through a kitchen window. There have been several burglaries of occupied homes in Half Moon Bay. There is no word on whether this crime may be related to that spree.
Theft
5 p.m., Dec. 24, Ferdinand Avenue
Someone reported that an iPhone valued at $431 had been stolen from the victim's car.
6 p.m., Dec. 24, Madrid Avenue
Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and took a laptop computer valued at $2,000.
HALF MOON BAY
Burglary
6:11 p.m., Jan. 5, Highway 1
Police say two men distracted a store employee while a female accomplice made off with $500 worth of tobacco products. The two men were identified but were gone when police arrived. The case was forwarded to the district attorney.
8 a.m., Jan. 6, Stone Pine Road
Someone punched a hole in a front store window. Nothing appeared to be missing, however.
Dog attack
8 p.m., Dec. 28, Highland Avenue
Someone reported that his dog was attacked by another dog that was running loose without a leash. The dangerous dog's owner was not at home and police left a complaint form at the front door. The victim's dog was not injured in the attack.
Drugs
11:07 a.m., Dec. 31, Redondo Beach Road
Police stopped a 30-year-old man from Chino Hills because his car had no front license plate. He was discovered to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and to be in possession of marijuana. He was taken to county jail.
DUI
12:37 a.m., Dec. 23, Highway 1
San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 20-year-old Half Moon Bay man for drinking and driving. Not only did the man fail the field sobriety test, he also had an open can of beer in his cup holder when stopped.
11:45 p.m., Jan. 2, Main Street
Police arrested an 18-year-old Montara man for driving under the influence after he failed to stop completely at a stop sign.
2:39 p.m., Jan. 4, Highway 1
Police stopped a 51-year-old Half Moon Bay man for failing to stop at a flashing red light and discovered the man to be intoxicated. He was arrested and transported to First Chance.
1:35 a.m., Jan. 5, Frenchmans Creek Road
Police arrested a 39-year-old Half Moon Bay man after he failed to keep his car in his lane. He failed sobriety tests and was taken to county jail.
Dumping
Jan. 3, Valencia Street
Police responded after someone dumped boxes and debris in an alleyway.
Harassment
11:20 p.m., Jan. 2, Pacific Avenue
Police responded to a call about people yelling at homeowners from a vehicle. The homeowners say the same people have bothered them in the past. Police reported the incident as an attempt to intimidate a witness. Officers admonished the suspects and the case was forwarded to the district attorney.
Hit and run
11:23 a.m., Jan. 4, Highway 1
A driver reported that his car was hit by a late model blue pickup, which then left the scene. The victim's car suffered only minor damage.
Missing person
1 p.m., Dec. 30, Highway 1
Police took a report of a missing 10-year-old child who a parent had mistakenly left behind at a Half Moon Bay store. The child was quickly located.
Obstructing an officer
10:15 p.m., Dec. 28, Filbert Street
A man on a bicycle was shouting profanities at an officer. The man appeared nervous and admitted to having a few drinks. Police determined the 34-year-old Half Moon Bay man was on state parole and his conduct amounted to a violation of his parole He was also charged with obstructing an officer.
Vandalism
10 p.m., Dec. 26, Seymour Street
A resident reported that a window had been damaged by a BB. Police traced the trajectory of the shot to a nearby open field.
11:25 p.m., Dec. 29, Main Street
Someone told police that a man he knows threw an object through the back window of his car. Police are still investigating the incident.
1 a.m., Dec. 31, Willow Avenue
Several vehicles were "egged." Police documented the incident but say no lasting damage was done.
10 a.m., Jan. 6, Highway 92
A caller witnessed another man vandalizing Caltrans equipment. The vandal, described as a 47-year-old transient, was arrested and taken to jail.
Warrants
6:15 p.m., Jan. 2, Ventura Street
Police arrested 58-year-old Tony Lampkins of Half Moon Bay on a felony warrant. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to county jail.

DUI
10:33 p.m., Dec. 26, Highway 1
A man and a woman from Scotts Valley were arrested for public intoxication, DUI and child endangerment after being discovered drunk and driving south on Highway 1. The pair were taken to jail; a child in the car was released to a relative.
