The San Mateo County Transit District elected new board officers at its monthly meeting Wednesday, appointing Coastsider Zoe Kersteen-Tucker vice chair in a unanimous vote.

The board also chose county Supervisor Adrienne Tissier as chair.

Kersteen-Tucker, who recently resigned as executive director of the Coastside Land Trust, had been chair of the SamTrans board's Finance Committee. She is a public member, representing the Coastside region.

During 2007, SamTrans reported a growth of nearly 3.2 percent in average weekday ridership. The transit district board meets the second Wednesday of each month at 2 p.m. at 1250 San Carlos Ave. in San Carlos, two blocks from El Camino bus service and the train station.
