Cubs run away with titles

Two team titles and four individual titles were handed to the Cunha Intermediate School cross country team at the 2007 Art David Athletic League championships, held Oct. 26.

The eighth-grade boys had six runners finish in the top 18, to win with 23 points. Terman was second with 54 points.

Mitchell Martin won the race, running the 1.8-mile course at Crystal Springs in 9 minutes, 43 seconds. Cesar Aguilar was third in 9:59, followed by Kyle Cilia (fourth, 10:33), Brandon Crocker (fifth, 10:35), Alexander DeBaetes (11th, 11:07) and Joseph Silva (18th, 11:38).

The seventh-grade girls edged Ralston, 26-29, to win that title.

Chandra Anderson won in 11:03. She won all seven of her races. Paige Williamson was second in 11:53, with Kayla Bell fourth in 12:02.

Also running for the seventh-grade girls were Christine Hosfeldt (13th, 13:26), Jessica Quintanilla (15th, 14:00), Emma Pinzarrone (20th, 15:04) and Emilia Shelton (23rd, 18:04).

Andres Vazquez won the seventh-grade boys' race in 9:53. Thomas Sayre was sixth in 10:51. Also running for the Cubs were Bradley Kelly (10th, 11:09), Tom Howell (25th, 12:40) and Daniel O'Connor (28th.) His time was not reported.

The Cubs were third in that division.

Cunha took second in the sixth-grade boys' division, thanks to Marshall Logan's win in 10:27. Weston Kramer took seventh in 11:50, followed by Zachary Trenor (11th, 12:19), Corey Cilia (14th, 12:24) and Brodie Miller (15th, 12:24).

The eighth-grade girls finished second to Central. Montana Miller led the Cubs, finishing fourth in 11:16. Joanna Moore was ninth in 12:21, followed by Katarina Boester (10th, 12:25), Andriana Nelson (13th, 12:37), Michele McCaffrey (18th, 13:00) and Laura Sullivan (22nd, 13:37).

Aliz Lemke led the sixth-grade girls, finishing third in 12:11. Kyla Kemp was seventh in 12:26, with Sydney Royce 12th in 13:42, and Mackenzie Tjogas 18th in 14:55.

The Cubs couldn't field a full team for that division.
