Last year, said event coordinator and librarian Armando Ramirez, the event drew about 100 people from all walks of the Coastside.
"It was a nice mix of people from the community," he said.
The salsa-making demonstration will feature two or three members of the library staff. The demonstration, Ramirez said, "is for people who want to learn (how to make salsa)."
The library will provide chips and fresh homemade tortillas for tasting the salsa, as well as Agua Fresca water beverages, Ramirez said.
The event is meant to be a community gathering, with no prizes or competition involved. "We don't want to make it a competition," Ramirez said. "It's for people in the community to have fun and understand different cultures."
The library also stocks a wealth of books on salsa and salsa making, for those who want to learn more, he added.
Registration is not required, but Ramirez said he would appreciate people letting him know in advance what sort of salsa they plan to bring so he can further refine event plans.
Ramirez can be reached at 726-2316, ext. 231.
