Woman reports suspicious encounter at Bean Hollow

A woman told police that she went to Bean Hollow State Beach alone on the evening of Aug. 9 to watch the sunset. She parked in the lot and walked north to a secluded beach. She said she became aware of a man watching her. He approached her and asked her name. The encounter made her nervous, so she backed away and went back to her car. She noticed a dark green Ford pickup truck parked nearby. San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies advised her that it would be safer to go to the beach with a friend next time.

EL GRANADA

Injured child

8:06 p.m., Aug. 10, Ferdinand Avenue

A child suffered a head injury and a broken arm when she fell off a second-story balcony and onto the concrete drive below. The child, who was visiting the home, fell 10 feet onto her head. Doctors at Stanford Hospital performed surgery on the child's arm.

Theft

4 p.m., Aug. 8, Bridgeport Drive

Sometime in the days leading up to Aug. 3, someone stole a woman's purse from her unlocked car. The thief tried to use credit cards from the purse several times in the area. Some of those efforts were successful before the card could be canceled.

6:30 p.m., Aug. 8, Avenue Portola

Someone reported their iPod was stolen from an unlocked car. The device was valued at $300.

3:46 p.m., Aug. 9, Sevilla Avenue

Over the course of the summer an El Granada resident learned that someone had made a total of $141.35 worth of Internet orders in his name.

HALF MOON BAY

Barking dog

11:38 a.m., Aug. 18, Greenbrier Road

A homeowner complained of a dog that wouldn't stop barking. Half Moon Bay Police left a note on the dog owner's door.

7:44 p.m., Aug. 18, Potter Avenue

Police took a complaint about a barking dog and left a note about the problem for the dog's owners.

Disturbance

5:04 p.m., Aug. 17, Main Street

A business manager called police to report a customer who was creating a disturbance. The man was loud and calling others names. He told police he was being deliberately taunted but agreed to leave.

Drunk in public

6:48 p.m., Aug. 15, North Cabrillo Highway

An intoxicated man at Strawflower Village was reported to authorities. Police found the 42-year-old San Mateo man was too drunk to care for himself and he was taken to an area hospital.

DUI

9:08 p.m., Aug. 14, Main Street

Police took report of a hit-and-run collision and were told the suspect looked drunk. They later found 28-year-old Geovani Montes of Half Moon Bay and arrested him for DUI, driving without a license and hit-and-run.

Theft

12:30 a.m., Aug. 15, Correas Street

A juvenile reported his red-and-black Specialized mountain bike was stolen from in front of the library. It was unlocked at the time of the theft.

Warrants

2:39 p.m., Aug. 18, Purissima Street

Officers spotted a man they knew to be wanted on misdemeanor warrants. He was picked up and taken to county jail.

LA HONDA

DUI

8:16 p.m., Highway 84

Deputies stopped a 22-year-old Pescadero resident and smelled alcohol on his breath. He subsequently failed sobriety tests. He was also driving on a suspended license. He was taken to county jail.

PESCADERO

Warrants

11:09 p.m., Pigeon Point

Sheriff's deputies noticed several cars parked by the side of the road and found a party and bonfire on the beach. They spoke with the people at the party and found 29-year-old Ryan Daly of Sacramento. He was arrested on a number of outstanding warrants and others were told it was illegal to have a bonfire and to leave.

PRINCETON

Burglary

2:30 p.m., Aug. 11, Airport Street

Someone broke into a locked boat in a storage yard and took radio equipment.

Indecent exposure

2:57 p.m., Aug. 11, Romeo Pier

Someone exposed himself and masturbated in view of a woman who was walking her dog on the beach.
