Your guide to the 2007 San Mateo County Fair

With the theme of "You Gotta Go!", the San Mateo County Fair, located at the San Mateo County Event Center at 2495 S. Delaware St. in San Mateo, will run Friday through Aug. 19. The times vary by day:
Friday, Aug. 10: 4 to 11 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 11: noon to 11 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 12 through Thursday, Aug. 16: noon to 10 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 17 and Saturday, Aug. 18: noon to 11 p.m.
Sunday. Aug. 19: noon to 10 p.m.
The carnival opens at the same opening time and remains open one hour after fair closing.
Advance tickets are on sale through www.SanMateoCountyFair.com or onsite through 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8.
Children 5 and under: free;
Children 6-12: $6/presale, $9/regular;
Seniors 62 and over: $5/presale, $7/regular;
Carnival wristband: $20/presale, $28/regular;
Gold Circle (concert): $20/adult presale, $16 plus admission regular; $19/child and senior presale, $16 plus admission child and senior regular.

Saturday, Aug. 11: REO Speedwagon, 7:30 p.m.;
Sunday, Aug. 12: Lucha Libre, 7:30 p.m.;
Monday, Aug. 13: Hawthorne Heights, 7:30 p.m.;
Tuesday, Aug. 14: Charlie Daniels Band, 7:30 p.m.;
Wednesday, Aug. 15: Night Ranger, 7:30 p.m.;
Thursday, Aug. 16: Hi-5, 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.;
Friday, Aug. 17: Joan Jett, 7:30 p.m.;
Saturday, Aug. 18: Blue October, 7:30 p.m.;
Sunday, Aug 19: Dia de La Feria Preciosa, 2 p.m.
Entertainment on the grounds
Entertainment includes an exotic animal display, Bud Light Blues and Brews Stage and Fables of the West, Chinese acrobats, a Giant Bikes BMX show, Hambone Express Pig Races, International Avenue, Rancho California, Wizard's Challenge and the Shamrock Shows Carnival Company.

Admission to Bay Meadows racing is free with purchase of fair admission.
Special events
Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Eating Contest at 3 p.m. Aug. 16 on the Rancho California Stage.
Seniors' Day is Aug. 14, with complimentary admission for seniors 62 and over. Events include the My Fair Lady Pageant at 12:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building, followed by Seniors in Showbiz on the Plaza Stage and the Charlie Daniels Band at 7:30 p.m. on the Comcast Stage, Expo Hall.
Kids' Day is Aug. 16 with free admission for kids 12 and under, the Brad's World Reptile Exhibit and the Wizard's Challenge, and the Discovery Kids Group Hi-5 at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m. on the Comcast Stage, Expo Hall.

Look for familiar faces: Approximately 130 exhibitors from the Half Moon Bay area will participate in the county fair. Some of the most popular categories for Coastsiders include Youth Livestock, Home Arts (particularly quilts) and Fine Arts, with photography the most popular area.
