Just before midnight, July 7, San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies raced to a report of a man hitting another with a hammer. When they got to the Montara address they met two roommates who said a third housemate was drunk and violent. The 21-year-old man also had a misdemeanor warrant. He was taken to county jail.

Sometime over the preceding weekend, someone broke into a bathroom window at the Wilkinson School, climbed through a false ceiling and over a wall to gain access to the office. The thief got away with a digital camera and $322 in cash.

Overnight, someone entered an unlocked car and made off with about $1,300 worth of things left inside.
7:06 p.m., July 12
Someone came to the North Coast substation to report a theft from nine days earlier. He said someone broke into his car on July 3 and took some stereo equipment and about 60 CDs.

A woman came into the police station to say her husband had hit her. She had visible red marks where she said she had been hit. The case will be forwarded to the district attorney for review.

12:18 a.m., July 14, Miramontes Avenue
Police arrived at the scene of a loud disturbance involving a pair of 22-year-old city residents. The pair were drunk and taken to First Chance where they were ultimately released.

11 a.m., July 13, Lewis Foster Drive
An administrator at the high school called police when an employee found a baggie containing what he believed to be marijuana. Police took the bag for destruction.
6:57 p.m., July 14, Main Street
A passing officer smelled marijuana at Mac Dutra Park. He found the culprit who admitted having the drug. He was cited and released.
DUI
12:25 a.m., July 7, Highway 1
San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies had to brake hard to avoid hitting a car driven by a 20-year-old Concord man as he traveled south through Half Moon Bay. The man had inexplicably hit his own brakes, almost causing a collision. He was arrested for DUI and taken to county jail after failing sobriety tests.
11:28 p.m., July 7, Highway 1 at Miramontes Point Road
A 22-year-old Half Moon Bay resident was stopped for speeding and found to be drunk as well. In addition, he had a warrant out for his arrest. He was taken to jail.

A homeowner told police that the shingles on his garage roof had been tampered with.
11:48 p.m., July 11, Golden Gate Avenue
A homeowner reported that her daughter heard a tapping on the front window of their residence. The caller said she saw saw a man pacing back and forth, but police searched the area and didn't find the man.
Unlicensed driver
12:10 p.m., July 11, Highway 1
Police stopped a female driver after she failed to stop at a stop sign. She didn't have a license, so police issued her a citation.
Vandalism
July 10, Greenbrier Avenue
Police responded after a homeowner said someone had thrown a rock through the window of her home while she was away.

Someone etched graffiti into a wooden bench in front of the library.
10:30 a.m., July 13, Main and Filbert streets
Police were called to an apparent vandalism at the park, but it turned out a statue broke because kids were playing on it. No crime occurred.

Police responded to a minor collision on Main Street and found one driver, 27-year-old Kevin Braley of Antioch, was wanted on a felony warrant. He also had no proof of insurance. He was taken to county jail.

A construction worker found two bags of what looked to be illegal drugs and called the Sheriff's Office. Deputies took the drugs for disposal.

Deputies recognized a 59-year-old man wanted on a misdemeanor warrant as he stood in front of his home. He was arrested and taken to county jail.

4:19 a.m., Highway 1 at Capistrano Road
A 24-year-old San Jose man was arrested for DUI and taken to county jail after deputies saw him speeding and swerving out of his lane.
