Half Moon Bay Police took note of a curious incident involving a Dumpster at a business on Kelly Avenue. Someone unlocked a padlock on the garbage container and then relocked it in a way that prevented the Dumpster from being opened at all. The call came in on June 29, and the caller just wanted extra patrols in the area.

A mother called police when her children's father did not return promptly with the kids as planned. She told police the father and two children may have gone camping and that she didn't consider the kids to be in danger.
Dog bite
11:56 a.m., June 30, N. Cabrillo Highway
Police took a report of a postal carrier who was bitten by a dog. The bite did not break the skin but the mail carrier said the same dog has bitten him before. The Peninsula Humane Society was told of the incident.

Police stopped a vehicle for expired tags and found the 25-year-old driver from Moss Beach to have marijuana in the car. He was cited and released.
Drunk in public
2:14 p.m., June 30, N. Cabrillo Highway
Police were called after two Moss Beach residents were accused of causing a disturbance at a restaurant. One, a 36-year-old man, had a misdemeanor warrant, and both were arrested and taken to county jail.
DUI
10:11 p.m., June 25, Highway 1
Police responded to a traffic accident and found that one driver appeared to be intoxicated. The 44-year-old Half Moon Bay woman failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. She was transported to First Chance.
Fire
6:50 p.m., June 29, Main Street
An officer on routine patrol noticed smoke coming from a Dumpster behind a business. Fire crews arrived and put out what looked to be an accidental fire.

10:50 p.m., June 27, Poplar Beach
Police dispersed a large party. Partiers were cooperative and no arrests were made.
Suspicious person

A woman called police about a man she said was following her. She knew the man and wanted police to talk to him. The man was warned to stay away from her home and business or he would be charged with trespassing.

Someone reported the theft of a cell phone from an unlocked car.

9:40 a.m., June 26, Fourth Avenue
Dennis Francis Souza Jr. turned himself into Half Moon Bay Police. He was wanted on a $75,000 felony warrant from San Mateo County. Calls to the Sheriff's Office for details were not immediately returned.
12:29 p.m., June 28, Ruisseau Francais
Police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle and discovered that the driver had a $10,000 misdemeanor warrant out of Monterey County. He was taken to county jail.
