The Half Moon Bay Library presents something different for the month of June: the art work of Coastside students involved with Art in Action.

Students from La Honda, Kings Mountain and Pescadero elementary schools have been studying art, art appreciation, great artists, and techniques through Bay Area nonprofit Art in Action.

Fifteen pieces of art from each school will be on display in the library's children's area.

Kings Mountain students are looking forward to displaying their Art in Action work.

A reception will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 9, at the library at 620 Correas St. in Half Moon Bay. Light refreshments will be served.

"It's always delightful to have children's art on display here," said Branch Manager Maya Kennedy.

It's delightful for the kids too, said Art in Action program director Betsy Halaby. "The kids can be proud," she said. "They're not only showing off their own work, but they're excited to see their classmates. It's a community-building event."

Visitors can expect to see two-dimensional works like paintings portraits, landscapes and abstract work, all created by the students as part of their studies through Art in Action.

For information, call the library at 726-2316.
