Nightmare on North Street brings police to scene

Shortly after midnight on May 16, San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies got a call from a scared resident claiming to have received harassing phone calls. An unknown suspect called the victim saying he was "Freddy Krueger," and that there was a bomb planted under the victim's back porch. The victim said the man had called in the past and made the same threats.

7 a.m., May 16

Unknown suspects stole a black cell phone from a man's vehicle. The phone was valued at $220.

Civil disturbance

4:12 p.m., May 16, Half Moon Bay Police Department

A citizen reported a civil issue between two siblings and their elderly mother.

11:20 p.m., May 18, Main Street

A woman told officers that after returning to her car, she found there was a man sitting on it. When she asked him to go he reportedly "flipped her off" and wrote obscenities in the dust on her window.

Dog

12:30 p.m., May 13, Kelly Avenue

Officers took report of a dog bite that occurred a week earlier at the skateboard park. A woman told police that her son was skating at the park when a Rottweiler on a short leash bit him on the lower leg. Police contacted the dog owner who said she had become concerned about the dog's behavior, and that she had already returned the dog to the breeder she bought it from.

Fire

9 a.m., May 19, Spruce Street

A 12-year-old threw a smoldering candle into a person's yard. The child was reprimanded by police.

Fighting

12:45 a.m., May 20, San Mateo Road

A caller reported that a fight had occurred behind a local restaurant. Additionally, a restaurant employee had heard the disturbance outside and what she thought to be a gun shot. Those involved in the disturbance had left the area before police arrived.

Nudist

4 p.m., May 17, Redondo Beach

Officers were dispatched to the scene of an indecent exposure on Redondo Beach. Two women called to say that they'd seen a man in his early 60s enjoying the beach in the nude.

Restraining order

3 p.m., May 17, Spruce Street

An officer took a report of a restraining order violation after a letter was sent that violated terms of the order.

Theft

6:20 p.m., May 16, Half Moon Bay High School

A bike, valued at $300, was stolen.

May 18, Poplar Street

Unknown suspects used a victim's bank account information and withdrew $2,000 from various ATMs on two different days.

6:15 p.m., May 19, Cypress Avenue

Unknown suspects took approximately $440 in stereo equipment from a person's vehicle while it was parked overnight.

10:01 p.m., May 20, Highway 1

An officer was flagged down by a man claiming his bicycle had been stolen. The man confronted a man riding what he thought to be his bike. The rider said he had only borrowed it from a friend. Police contacted the suspect and the bicycle was taken for safekeeping until the suspect's friend can prove ownership.

Vandalism

9 p.m., May 19, Mizzen Lane

After two men broke off from a dispute, a resident found that her car had been scratched. The case was forwarded to the district attorney for review.

Warrant

4:08 p.m., May 15, Highway 92

An officer pulled over a car for expired registration and found that its driver had an outstanding warrant in Hollister. She was cited and released.

Worried dad

5:12 p.m., May 18, Grove Street

Officers met with a father concerned about his daughter's relationship with her boyfriend.

MONTARA

7:48 p.m., May 16

Unknown suspects gained access to a woman's credit card using her old address and telephone number. Total losses amounted to $140, including purchases and late fees.

MOSS BEACH

Assault

10:22 p.m., May 16, Fitzgerald Marine Reserve

A group of students from Cunha Intermediate School in Half Moon Bay threw rocks at a group of their classmates. The victims refused medical treatment and did not show signs of a serious injury.

Theft

7:14 a.m., May 17

During the night, unknown suspects stole landscaping tools from a resident's front yard.
