Employees at a Half Moon Bay restaurant on South Cabrillo Highway called police to report that someone left without paying shortly after 5 p.m. on April 26. Officers attempted to stop the suspect who was riding a bicycle northbound on Highway 1. The suspect attempted to evade the officer and did not initially pull over. The man was placed under citizen's arrest by a restaurant employee, for defrauding an innkeeper. He was also charged with obstructing a police officer and possession of marijuana.

An intoxicated parent picked up his two children from El Granada Elementary School and attempted to drive away with them. The principal of the school intervened and took custody of the children. The suspect fled on foot and was subsequently apprehended by the Sheriff's Office.
Domestic dispute
9:34 p.m., April 22
San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a fight between a father and son. Deputies met with the father who said his son had run from the residence and that no one was hurt. The argument escalated when the parents asked the son to finish e-mailing his girlfriend and go to bed. The son ignored his parents, continued to be disrespectful and the parents took away his Play Station video games. The son became enraged and threatened to use a baseball bat on his mother's car. His father tried to restrain him but he ran off. While deputies were speaking to the parents, the son sent a text message to his mother stating that he would not return until deputies left, that he did not have a bed time, that he wanted a new Play Station and that he was not going to wear a helmet while riding his bike.

Dangerous weapon
5:14 p.m., April 29, N. Cabrillo Highway
Police contacted what they say were several gang members who were loitering on North Cabrillo Highway and found one subject in possession of a wooden club. He was arrested on charges of possession of a dangerous weapon, and transported to the county jail.
Distrubance
1:08 a.m., April 25, Spruce Street
An officer was dispatched to a disturbance between tenants in a building. The rabble-rousers were advised to remain peaceful.
Domestic battery
6:30 p.m., April 24, Main Street
Police were dispatched to a report of domestic battery that had occurred a few days earlier. The victim told police she was hit, choked and threatened and had visible injuries near her right eye and on her upper arms. Saul Procopio Melgar, 25, of Half Moon Bay, was contacted and arrested on charges of domestic battery and threats. He was transported to the county jail.
Drugs
10:55 a.m., April 24, Pilarcitos Avenue
Police arrived at a house after reports of a fight between a man and his wife. The man was discovered to have drugs and was taken to the county jail.
10:35 p.m., April 26, N. Cabrillo Highway
Police responded to the report of a girl who was under the influence of drugs. The juvenile admitted to having smoked marijuana and complained of dizziness. The 14-year-old appeared disoriented and confused and needed assistance to walk. She was released to the custody of her mother and was treated by paramedics.
2:40 p.m., April 28, Miramontes Street
Officers on patrol in the cemetery located a suspicious vehicle occupied by two males. The subjects - including one underage male - were found smoking marijuana and were cited for possession of marijuana and released on their promise to appear in court.

Someone told police that an unknown suspect opened a cellular telephone account in the victim's name.
Pruning shears
4:15 p.m., April 25, Highway 1
An officer approached four men he believed to be gang members. One man happened to be holding a pair of pruning shears that police believed to be a dangerous weapon. Police later confirmed the man worked for a nursery and had mistakenly left his place of employment with the shears on his pants waistband. He was released from the scene.
Theft
2:45 p.m., April 24, Granelli Avenue
A diamond engagement ring was stolen from a resident's home, valued at $2,200. The person had had the ring delivered to his front porch only to find the package had been opened and the ring was gone.
7:39 a.m., April 25, Lewis Foster Drive
Police took a report of a stolen wallet. The victim had left it at a gas station by mistake and when she returned it was gone. The wallet and its contents were valued at $95.
12:33 p.m., April 26, San Mateo Road
Police were dispatched to the Rite Aid store regarding a theft that just occurred. Police located the suspect vehicle and found two male suspects in the vehicle. One, James Korey Pauling, 28, of Auburn, had a no-bail felony warrant out of Sacramento County. The other, Zachariah Mark Pauling, 22, also of Auburn, was found to be driving with a suspended license. Both face felony charges of theft with priors, after taking four bottles of alcoholic beverages from the store
7 p.m., April 27, Arnold Way
The victim said she parked her vehicle and when she returned found the door lock had been pried open and her car stereo missing. The stereo was valued at $260.
4 p.m., April 28, Main Street
Police were called about the theft of a wallet from an employee bathroom of a Half Moon Bay restaurant. The wallet and its contents were valued at $355.
Threatening phone calls
April 26, Redondo Beach Road
An officer was dispatched after someone complained of threatening phone calls. The complainant said an unknown male caller told the victim he was "a dead man." Police told the victim how to obtain a "telephone trap" through the phone company.
11 a.m.. April 26, Miramontes Point Road
An employee reported the theft of a $100 bill from an employee locker room. The victim placed her belongings inside of a locker and believed she had secured the locker. When she returned she found the door ajar and the money missing.
Trespassing
10:43 p.m., April 24, Willow Avenue
Residents called police after a man was caught sleeping in a boat. By the time police arrived, the sleeper had vanished.
Unlicensed driver
6:19 p.m., April 27, Alsace Lorraine
An officer responding to a minor traffic collision found one driver to be unlicensed. He was cited and released on his promise to appear in court.
10:47 p.m., Pilarcitos Avenue, April 27
After stopping a vehicle with a modified exhaust system, police found the driver to be unlicensed and with no proof of insurance. The driver was cited and released on his promise to appear in court.
